Nose Aesthetic Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

Rhinoplasty, derived from “rhino” (nose) and “plasty” (shaping), is an aesthetic surgical procedure where the shape of the nose is altered to enhance the patient’s appearance. During this surgery, existing or potential breathing problems of the patient are also addressed and corrected.

The goal of rhinoplasty is to achieve a natural and harmonious appearance, as well as functionality, by altering the shape and sizes of the cartilage, bone, skin, and mucosal structures that make up the nose, ensuring compatibility with other facial features.

To achieve the desired ideal results, various angles between the nasal dorsum, nasal tip, nasal openings, and the area between the nose and lips, as well as the space between the nose and forehead, are adjusted.

Rhinoplasty can be combined with many other aesthetic surgical procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetic surgery), otoplasty (ear correction surgery), and genioplasty (chin surgery).

Suitable candidates for rhinoplasty are individuals who are physically and mentally healthy and have realistic expectations regarding their desires.

What You Need to Know About the Surgery:
This surgery can be performed on patients over the age of 18 who are in good general health. If an individual under the age of 18 has sufficient physical development and with parental consent, this surgery can be performed for selected cases.
The surgery can be done under general or local anesthesia. My personal preference is towards general anesthesia because it is much more comfortable for the patient.
Whether your surgery will be open or closed is decided after your examination. However, I must note that the choice between these two techniques does not significantly affect your recovery.
You will stay in the hospital for a maximum of one day.
There is usually no pain in the nose after the surgery.
Since I use self-dissolving tampons, you will not have any problems with tampon removal. I use silicon tampons for 5-7 days for those with a significantly deviated septum, but they are easily removed as they do not adhere.
Nasal splints are removed on the 7th day after the surgery.
There may be some swelling and bruising in every patient, but these usually improve rapidly within 7-10 days.
You can comfortably return to your social and work life within 12-15 days.
The nose achieves the desired shape about a year after the surgery, but a noticeable improvement in swelling is observed in the third week.
